Like Nan Did

A weekly workshop that celebrates those who have come before us, our elders, kaumatua, and grandparents who have lived through wars, depressions, recessions, and pandemics - sometimes all simultaneously. They learned some things, grew their own kai, made simple remedies to support their health, made do by being resourceful - and cooperating together.

We celebrate our Nans and bring their wisdom into our communities at this time of hardship for many. What would Nan do if there was little kai around? We aim to find out - and to share this knowledge passed to us, with free weekly workshops at Stokes Valley - and once a month at the Koraunui Hub.

Community can come, and make their own baking to take home, and we will make extra to provide to those in emergency housing who cannot bake for themselves.
