There are so many whānau/families struggling with providing nutritious meals on low or no budgets.  In response to the increasing need we have created a toolkit of recipes that cost as little as a couple of dollars to create, that we can top up with kai we can easily grow or forage (find growing in the wild)

Hauhake (Harvest) Calendar.

What is available and seasonal at what time of the year?  Use this guide for planning your own garden, or for looking for seasonal kai bargains at your local market or can be foraged in the wild.

Keeping our kai safe.

This guide has used food safety information from the Ministry of Primary Industries Simply Safe & Suitable template food control plan and Te Kai Manawa Ora Marae Food Safety Guide. This guide is not a food control plan and would not be suitable to be used by kitchens that are required to register as a food business. It is a best practice toolkit designed for communities to use in food banks, pataka kai and places where food is distributed non-commercially.
